Our Role
Our Local works together to provide specific services, advice, guidance, and mediation.
It is the responsibility of our Local to ensure that members benefit fully of all terms and conditions set out in their respective collective agreements.
It is the responsibility of our Local to ensure that the employer is providing a safe work place for all members through participation on Health and Safety Committees, interpretation of safety laws and negotiating improved health and safety provisions in collective agreements.
Our Local represents members through the grievance process specifically at the 1st and 2nd levels to the best of its ability to resolve complaints. It is the responsibility of our Local to ensure the National Health Union (NHU) - recently merged with Union of Environment Workers (UEW) to become Union of Health and Environment Workers (UHEW) staff are advised fully to handle grievances at the 3rd level and beyond.
It is the duty of our Local to keep members informed about the union's activities through this web site, by posting notices on union boards in the work place, on the employer's electronic notice boards when permitted, through work place handouts and by word of mouth.
Please remember that we can not do this alone. The Local must work together to undertake these activities, and your assistance and participation is important.
